Met een dubbele master in klinische epidemiologie en psychologie, heeft Simon altijd graag onderzocht waarom therapeutische interventies werken en hoe ze effectief geleverd kunnen worden. In zijn proefschrift toonde de medische wetenschapper in verschillende wetenschappelijke publicaties aan dat de Untire-app van Tired of Cancer vermoeidheid bij kanker kan verminderen en de kwaliteit van leven van veel kankerpati\u00ebnten en overlevenden kan verbeteren.
