Dr. Bram Kuiper is a clinical psychologist, scientific entrepreneur and CEO of Tired of Cancer. Up until July 2017, Bram was the CEO of the Helen Dowling Institute for psycho-oncology and research. With over thirty years of experience in the field of psycho-oncology and in co-writing treatment protocols, he has now devoted his career to seeing the Tired of Cancer app help as many people as possible who suffer from cancer-related fatigue.

Door Vonk is a social entrepreneur and founding partner of Tired of Cancer, where she holds the position of CCO. While Door started her career at a bank, she has accumulated over twenty years of experience in fundraising, financial and communication management of social enterprises. She left her own advisory company after nine years to dedicate her full attention and skills to Tired of Cancer.

Atse Aukes is our all-round project manager. He is responsible for guiding the app’s development, our research project, IT & legal matters, among other things. With a background in Business Administration, Atse has gained seven years of broad IT experience in the field of eHealth, specifically in the mental health sector. With full enthusiasm, he now puts all his skills to use to help make our app a success.

Peter Gielissen is a multimedia and publishing entrepreneur and operates as advisor to Tired of Cancer. In the early days of the internet, Peter founded his first company that brought streaming technology to the Netherlands. Later, he founded a second company (20 FTE), Damocles Publishing, which was acquired by the global ICT company Lost Boys. He has over 25 years of experience within the (fast changing) multimedia business and he is still pioneering technical (digital broadcasting) and media business innovations (shared revenue business models). Peter is with Tired of Cancer because of its potential to innovate medical new media.

Laurens van Kampen is an experienced businessman, having worked the last 15 years for several major (international) companies as director and general manager. In his personal life he has been committed to non-profit initiatives in the field of psycho-oncology. He puts his strategic thinking and goal-oriented advice to use in the Tired of Cancer advisory board.

Henk van der Wal Advisor
Henk van der Wal runs a family-owned, asset based international transport company for more than 35 years and serves as an advisor to Tired of Cancer. In 2009, he decided to change the strategy of the company and created a virtual transport company, a so-called 4 party logistics company. This company is one of the biggest virtual transport companies in Europe. By using the best available software in the industry, Van der Wal’s second company – SmartWay Logistics – makes European transport more sustainable and transparent. Henk supports Tired of Cancer with his business background because he strongly believes, also from personal experience, that the tool will help people during difficult periods in their lives.
Karen van Rassel COMMITTEE OF RECOMMENDATION
Karen van Rassel has been involved with Lymphoma Coalition since its inception and CEO since 2010 and prior to that the ED of Lymphoma Canada since 2002. Before joining the healthcare sector, she was in the marketing and advertising industry for over 20 years. Karen has been involved with Tired of Cancer since 2014 because the LC Global Patient Survey points to fatigue as the number one issue with patients. This is a one of a kind support tool that will help patients understand that they are not alone and provide guidance and skills to help them with daily living.

Dr. Cobij Heijnen is one of the founding scientists in the field of psychoneuroimmunology. At MD Anderson Cancer Center, she seeks to understand the treatment of cancer-related stress, pain, fatigue and chemotheraphy-induced cognitive deficits, or chemobrain.
Prof. Dr. A (Ton) Hagenbeek COMMITTEE OF RECOMMENDATION
Dr. Hagenbeek has been working with cancer patients throughout his career and has specialized in malignant lymphoma/lymphnode cancer (both Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma). “Cancer Related Fatigue (CRF) appeared to be a significant quality of life deteriorating phenomenon in (cured) patients in my hemato-oncology practice. Docters don’t ask their patients and patients don’t tell their docter , based on my own experience. Underlying reason for the docter : no idea how to handle CRF and for the patient : I don’t want to bother my docter… This unique app will help to change this unacceptable situation, providing improved perspectives for many thousands of patients worldwide who suffer from this undesirable side effect.”
Dr. Marije van der Lee COMMITTEE OF RECOMMENDATION
Dr. Marije van der Lee is head of the scientific research department at the Helen Dowling Institute. She also works as a cognitive behavourial therapist and healthcare psychologist at the Helen Dowling Institute. Dr. Van der Lee is involved in several e-health research projects in the field of cancer-related fatigue and hopes to see the Tired of Cancer app help many cancer patients to regain a good quality of life.

    Privacy Policy

    The Tired of Cancer App “Website” is made available to you by Tired of Cancer B.V. – also referred to as “ToC BV, we, our” –, a company under Dutch law and compliant to European mHealth Guidelines. Established at Lucas Bolwerk 6, 3521EG Utrecht, The Netherlands.

    Our founder, Dr. Bram Kuiper, has a mission for the App to help (ex) cancer patients worldwide with their fatigue and related issues. The awareness or research into of Cancer related Fatigue (“CRF”) is still very little and ToC BV has the aim to do more research into CRF and to offer the necessary tools through an App to better cope with CRF.

    ToC BV is of the opinion that the protection of data of its users is of the utmost importance. Your personal data, which concerns all data that can be used to directly or indirectly identify you,  is therefore carefully handled and protected. When processing data, ToC BV observes the Dutch Personal Protection Data Act and other privacy legislation like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), issued by the European Union.

    By using the Website and her additional Services, you grant unambiguous consent to ToC BV for the registration and processing of your personal information in accordance with the purposes stated in this Privacy statement.

    By using the App and creating a personal account, you grant unambiguous consent to ToC BV for the registration and processing of your personal information in accordance with the purposes stated in this Privacy statement.

    Your Data

    In order to use the App, it is necessary that you provide a limited amount of personal data. ToC BV uses your data to do (internal) research for the best possible experience and to provide you with personalized content, such as exercises, tips, and activities. Statistics in the App provides an overview of the measurements and progress, so that you can keep track of your own development. Because we like to be transparent we will give you an overview of what information we collect:

    Personal data

    We limit ourselves to a minimum set of personal data:

    • Login; to login the App we use your username and password.
    • Name; to adress you in the App
    • Email adress; to communicate with you about the welcoming opt-in, subscription renewal, and the password reset process. We minimize the amount of emails.
    • Device identifiers and technical information pertaining to your device; to enable access to multiple devices.
    • Journal entries; to store your progress

    Other data

    Other data we gather:

    • Creation and update date, frequency and duration of app use;
    • Completion percentage per event (theme’s, the daily program items);
    • Measurement data of questionnaires;
    • Settings, timezone and language;
    • Subscription information.

    All of these data are indirectly linked to personal information by means of a pseudonym. This means you are the only one who has access to your personal data. We can only view all other data. We use your data to get insight in how you use the App and how we can improve and optimize the App to give you the best experience.

    Local storage

    You could use the App offline, after downloading the specific content. When online again the App will synchronize your data with the servers. That means we store both your own input such as journals and measurements locally on your device as well as the content of the App.

    Data processing

    • Your data will be stored on our secure servers; allowing you to retrive you data at any compatible devices you own and to synchronise your data between these devices;
    • Our servers run a day incremental backup and a weekly full backup, allowing us to keep your data save when encountering
    • Your data will not be sold to third parties; nor will we allow third parties to use your data for their own purposes. Except, scientific research, development, storage and back-up services are outsourced by ToC BV to a third party service provider. ToC BV, as the controller, will ensure at all times that the third party service provider will be bound by an appropriate agreement in accordance with applicable data protection law, and ensuring at all times that your data will remain protected in accordance with at least the same standards as under the present privacy policy.
    • Contracted third parties, as processors, get the task of processing the data for agreed purposes only and it is forbidden to process data for any other purposes.
    • ToC BV will implement appropriate technical and organisational measures and procedures in such a way that ensures the protection of your rights, and always in accordance with applicable data protection law.
    • In case of a security breach leading to the accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure of, or access to, your personal data, ToC BV will inform you of the breach without undue delay, including a summary description of the potential impact and a recommendation on measures to mitigate the possible adverse effects of the breach.

    Security

    We do our utterly best to protect ToC BV and the App from unauthorized access, disclosure or destruction of data held by us. We do this through the following protective measures:

    • All personal information is stored in a separate server vault that is accessibleby you as a user only. So we can assure a very high level of privacy for your personal data.
    • Your data is transferred from your device to our server using HTTPS and TLS for encryption.
    • Our Webdevelopment provider does comply to ISO 27001.
    • Our Hosting provider does comply to ISO 27001, ISO 9001, NEN 7510 and has ISAE 3402 type I en II reports.

    Your rights

    You may delete your personal data at any time by using the in-App function “Forget me”.  After consent, we will delete all personal data. After deletion, you can remove the app from your device.

    Your responibility

    Keeping your data safe is not just a sole task for ToC BV. Security is a matter of all involved parties, and that includes you. It is in your own best interest to ensure that your information is processed in a safe, responsible and legitimate manner, so keep the following in mind:

    • Make sure your devices and software are always up to date.
    • About your password. The more complex, the better. And of course, make it unique.
    • If you backup your device using a third party service, like iCloud, be aware that you will transfer all personal data stored on your device to the third party. If that’s the case, ToC BV refers to the third party’s privacy policy and we encourage you to review it to keep your information save.

    Tired of Cancer processes your personal data for the purpose of dealing with a question, complaint or other communication you have submitted to us. For this reason, it is also compulsory to fill in personal data. The legal basis of this processing is that this data processing is necessary for the representation of the legitimate interest of ToC BV and of you. This interest consists concretely of the interest of ToC BV and of you to be able to deal with questions, complaints or other types of communication at your request. These personal data will be kept for as long as is necessary for the complete answering and handling of the question, complaint or other communication sent with the contact form is necessary. After that, the personal data will be deleted.

    Google Analytics

    We have a processors agreement with Google. The data we collect in Google Analytics is anonymized and encrypted. The so-called ‘sharing of data’ with Google is not allowed. Finally, we do not use Analytics cookies in combination with other Google services.

    We use buttons to promote or share our pages, blogs, etc on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ or LinkedIn. These buttons are created by these social media platforms themselves and make use of a cookie. In this copy, please blacken your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone, the strip with numbers at the bottom of the passport), passport number and Social Security number to protect your privacy. We will respond to your request as soon as possible, but no later than four weeks.
